Jennie Garth is Going Red for Women

Never one to shy away from a charitable get-together, Jennie Garth was all smiles at the 23rd Annual Great Chefs of Los Angeles event in Studio City on Sunday (November 8).

The shindig was put on by The National Kidney Foundation and hosted by George Lopez, with chefs and celebs lining the back lot of CBS Studios to dish out their delectable offerings.

In related news, Miss Garth just announced that she’s partnering with the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign.

“You may not think that a woman like me could be at risk for heart disease, but the truth is, I have a heart condition,” she wrote in a CNN column. “Fortunately, it isn’t a life-threatening one, but not all women are as lucky.”

The “Beverly Hills 90210” actress continued to tell, “It’s not a serious condition, but it reminds me how important it is to stay in tune with my body. Most women don’t know that the heart is a very forgiving organ. Even if you have abused it by smoking, eating poorly, or by not exercising, you can start right now to repair it by making the right choices.”

“Though my father lost his battle, he has inspired me to live a better life and to speak up for women at risk,” Garth wrote. “I urge you to join Go Red For Women and me in the fight against heart disease.”
